i get my connections from a local hydraulics &pneumatics supplier (much more solid)and either have an in line on/off switch or use the use the sponge practise golf balls or a tennis ball to protect them when you drop them after dis-connecting.

I had loads of trouble with the female connectors to. I used to use a stop valve in a leather holster and connect my pole hose to one side and the microbore to the other. A lot of dropping and dragging of connections happened and they would be constantly leaking or failing.
Several months ago we changed to triggers. The microbore connects straight to the base of the trigger on the pole. Because its attached we no longer remove the pole until we have walked it back to the van. we then wind in and then disconnect the trigger. Consequently the females are not getting dragged or dropped and therefore they seem to be lasting.
Hope that helps.

Varitech - Theirs are a bit different as they are mounted on a sleeve that can be moved up and down the pole to suit.
