Nother problem...very low water pressure from the mains.Anyone any ideas what i could do?Some plumbers tell me booster pump...some say if you have low pressure from mains that a booster pump wont make any difference...Help

just that im told by most plumbers i speak to that  the incoming water presure is low a booster pump wont make any difference...it sounds strange to me aswel but not being a plumber im confused  .anyone with similar experiences

yes. i bought a booster pump and its ok now. It doubles the water production on my ro unit. 300gpd.

I've used a booster pump - on their own they only boost the pressure.

The pump you need is one that boosts both pressure & flow. I've got one similar to the red one on this page

[/quotI use the CBM250ss from machine mart which keeps the pressure between 3.5-5.2 bar.Only problem was it made the pipes in the house bang and rattle as it was drawing faster than was available, so sorted it with a 1000ltr ibc tank as a holding tank and the pump draws from that tank through the R.O. and crystals into another ibc tank as pure water. Pump runs most days 6-8hrs non-stop. Just got to make sure the ibc tap water is always filling as the pump draws it out. 8)Syd

Check if your stopcock is fully open. Sometimes they are partly shut to reduce pressure on household plumbing joints.

On our previous house we had a pressure-reducing valve fitted to the incoming main (by the stopcock) because we had problems caused by high water pressure. If you have one of these you should be able to open it up a bit.

I did have the stop cock fully open, the pump is about 30 mtrs away in the garage, the extra holding tank seems to work ok.

Hi, suggestion was more for henryfitz.

Holding tank is a good idea. I used to use a similar system in my previous house.

Holding tank - large booster pump - water softener - pump - RO.

Worked well until the booster pump broke down. I had to increase pressure/flow to RO pump for it to work so I was able to adjust the pressure reducing valve on our mains supply and by-pass holding tank.
