Lilly pollen
« on: November 29, 2008, 12:27:46 pm »
Looked at a job this morning, women knocked a vase of Lilly's over...what the chance of getting pollen stain of the beige carpet, i don't think there is but have you guys got any ideas...She has tried to clean it herself so made it worse. In the other room was a vase of the same Lilly's told here to nip the pollen stamens out so it dosent happen again, i left her doing this. Thanks

It's a bit of a swine, this stuff >:(

Worst case scenario is a 100% wool carpet and the pollen got wet from the water in the vase.  Unfortunately this is the most common scenario too!  The pollen sticks to wool like the proverbial to a blanket, and the water helps the pollen get really embedded into it.

Best case scenario would probably be no water on top of it, on a nylon carpet.

I use an alcohol spotter, one that is effective on stuff like soot damage, greasy head patches on sofas, draught marks etc.

The most important thing is to dry vac it loads and loads, possibly using your extractor and hand tool if it's already been wetted, and groom the carpet with a handi-groomer whilst you're doing it.

The fact that she's already 1001'd it might be the nail in the coffin.  Gut feeling...this is more likely to be an insurance job :(

Had amazing results using solvex ,even though custy had tried 1001

Very happy customer, and i was also happy  ;D

Think the paler patch was where the 1001 had bleached out the colour !

White spirit will work equally well and is much cheaper.

I use a potion of talcum powder, bleach, water and felt tips to mottle the white out into a vague yet new appearance for the carpet.
