problems with freezing hoses
« on: December 11, 2008, 04:49:34 pm »
hey everyone im having lots of problem with my hoses freezing, like just the small ones from the tank to pump and pump to di etc. ive tried heaters and they dont melt it, hot water doesnt melt it and i cant get out to work.
i was wondering if that sort of foam tubing that you wrap house pipes in some times would keep them from freezing?

thanks

are these pipes in a garage/shed, outside in the fresh air? suspended in air or lying on the ground?

Heaters only work if the heated temp is above 2 degrees - no point using a heater if it can heat the space its in.

Is you van ply boarded inside? If so you may want to get some foam insulation for behind the ply. if you can wrap your pipes in lagging or get those hose insulation covers.

Obviously the heater was not hot enough in your van.

perhaps cover your di cannister and hose with a high rating tog duvet.

b&q recycled loft insulation behind every ply pannel in the van(2  rolls for £15 at the mo), di and pumps wrapped in the stuff covered by bubble wrap and parcel tape, all pipes foam lagged  and cable tied  a £8 fan heater from wilkos turned on for 45 mins before work on extra cold mornings.
