lost my first 1 to the credit crunch today
« on: October 14, 2008, 08:20:45 pm »
Well today i lost my first house to the credit crunch, now i used to take losing customers personally and it used to Pee me off, as i know i do a good enough job

now i dont, its not worth it

here goes the story

this is a house thats been done by me ( or the guy i teamed up with for 7 years ) it was the 3rd house he priced up and got

the guy has a 3 bed detached house with a normally size conserv, not a big job

now here is what does my head in

a. gates locked, so i get and do the houses around him at 9.00, i knock on the door and he has to get up and dressed and then open the gate ( he is retired )

b. 2 garden green bins, 2 household grey bins, 1 garden round waste bin, 1 wheelbarrow, 1 double seat swing, they all need to be moved so i can get down he side path, moved by me

c. he NEVER writes a cheque, allways says " come back on thursday " ( the day the other guy used to collect on ) even though i allways say i dont, he will never send a cheque in the post either, i normally let it add up to 3 cleans then pop down to collect ( it really gets on his nerves to write a cheque for 3 cleans ), the cheque is never wrote when i arrive

now this guy is in his 70's , has 4 holidays a year, allways brags how his house is paid for etc etc, i phoned my wife to tell her the good news, i told hr i lost that house down the area i was, he response, Great, you allways moan about it when you get home

the price, 8.50 quid  ::) ::) done every 6 - 8 weeks

so ive lost my first

Couldn't have happened to a nicer customer Matt ;) I would have binned him long ago.
When he asks you back, you already know what to say  ;D

Room for a bigger and better one now Matt ;)

thats the funny thing, i didnt want to let him down by not doing them, i do a row of 12 of them ( every house ) and it really was the worse paid house on my round, i really honestly do not know why i kept them on ( they were old, i guess i didnt like to ditch them )

i do the house next door to them, its the same size house and its 12 quid without any conserv, thats a idea on how bad it was priced  ::)

Shame on you! Poor old doddery bloke that will probably finish him off now! You wait 'till you get old and grumpy and can't move the wheely bins anymore.

I'm sure we've all got the odd pain account that we've done for so long that we just keep on doing them out of habit.

Sounds like a good loss to me, just go out and get more that wont waste too much of your time. I would have dropped that long ago, why cant he just pay you on the day you come. Sounds like he was just being akward with you mate, the minute they start anything like that with me they get binned. I would rather spend the extra time it takes to go back, or re-arrange his garden with my family before I will let anyone else waste it.
