Is any one cleaning this type of blind or contemplating it.
Been out to day to look at a very large conservatory, the owners regular carpet cleaner has attempted cleaning to the blinds which are pleated Thomas Sandersons.
It has been a disaster, the blinds are now stained, the cords are have broken in places and some will not go back into shape. He clearly hasn't vacuumed properly if at all as there are dark smudged dust marks along the tops which now show through.
She was out for the day when it was done so doesn't know what he used, I suspect he has used something along the lines of a micro splitters sprayed on and and then either vacuumed or towel off.
I can only assume he has never cleaned a blind in his life before and just went for it as she's a regular customer and couldn't get anyone else to clean them.
These blinds cost £7500 to install and she wants new ones

I wouldn't have been able to restore them as they were to far gone, so didn't even try.
To anyone thinking about cleaning these blinds DON'T DO IT, unless you are properly trained, it takes a lot of practice and confidence to approach the cleaning of pleated blinds and if you are unsure they are best left alone.
The carpet cleaner by the way is insured.
