My van is 8yrs old its still in good condition, very reliable (sailed through last three MOT`s) as long as it looks good, nicely sign written thats all that matters.
Vans dont clean carpets.

You need 3 things to clean carpets

1.  Good equipment
2.  Good chemicals
3.  Good knowledge

If you have not got ONE of the above, then you are F##ked ;D ;D

I think number 4 on you list should be marketing. Marketing is as important as the cleaning itself. Having a good marketing campain is crucial and a good signwritter van to me is a major part in that.
You could be the best carpet cleaner in the world but without the jobs its not worth a sook.

at the moment you can get some real bargins for vans ive been to the sales today and seen aload of combos all 55 regs with 20-40k on the clock going from 1400-1600 plus vat how cheap do you want them ok there red being ex post office but at that kind of money there cheap as chips

now where can i get one of them beeper key chain thingies that go off when you clap/ fart / shut the door / snore /
bring back the eighties,
invisible dog leads
or the seventies
flares and stacks and birmingham bags
