plastic/alloy screw threads
« on: September 25, 2008, 04:01:35 pm »
Hi everybody

I'm new to this forum and run a manufacturing company producing in carbon & glass fibre. We manufacture products for several industries - WFP included, however we only manufacture the poles.

We are searching a supplier for the standard plastic screw threads that you guys use in your industry for screwing the goosenecks and brushes onto the end of your WFP. Obviously EXEL are not interested in supplying what they feel might be a competitor.

Can anyone help me on this one please?

Hi Pole King

Alex and I go back a little way now. We have many customers in several industries and on occasion one finds that a piece of equipment or item from one industry can be used in another with completely different uses and benefits.

Alex, I didn't want to clear your stock as you'd have been caught short for yourselves and might find it difficult to obtain more from EXEL.

Bon weekend!

Wow,

I seemed to have caused a little ripple.

We are a UK based company who manufacture glass & carbon fibre products, including WFP. We are obviously open to requests from companies such as Gardiners to produce poles for example and would be pleased to quote, however we would not sell to individuals as we deal in large minimum order quantities. Anybody interested is ofcourse welcome to make contact.
MBS - if you want to place an order for 100 of your own design poles, I'd be pleased to prepare a quote.

Regarding Alex's offer - as I respect Alex, and we have worked together for almost 2 years now, I would not want to ask him a favour that may ultimately cause him problems later.

Regards

All of the alloy ones are made for us in the UK. The plastic ones are currently sourced through Exel, but there is another supplier of a similar item which I am looking into. I could have them made for me in the UK, but I would have to have about 50,000 of them made at a time!

Metal thread on a metal insert is not good in my experience, the fit with metal on metal is no where near as good as plastic on metal or vice versa.
