Hi, are you stilkl using the diy version? How are you getting on with it? Any problems to report or any wear? I'm going to look into it and work out some prices in a moment but it looks very simple. I thought i could get away with a scoop but in reality it's been a poor decision.

Oh and which diameter tubing did you use? - Gardiners sell two different diameters.

Right i've done some more reading  ;) It looks like you used the 51mm diameter suction pipe so the next question would be what's the optimum length? I'm guessing at about five meters. I would need three more sections for my needs i think, which means that for around £1200 i could build one and fit a towbar to my van to cart it about when needed. Sounds quite an economical investment to me provided it works and i can see no reason why it wouldn't. I know of a school that had high reach problems regarding dirt inside the building so that's one oportunity straight away.

It should all fit in to your van m8 unless you need to use a generator. I'm getting on well with it. Lineing them all up or late Autumn now. must have nearly 4 full days work lined up including 1 I'm waiting on for a big block of flats........ 2 of the jobs will take a day each and 5 domestics......

No problems with wear and no section have needed to be replaced.

I use 5 meters of hose from the vac to the bottom of the pole.

Thanks for the info  ;) i have a couple more questions - is there any advantage in using the pole upside down? I'm thinking maybe the joints could catch the grit. Also the vacuum has a wet facility so i would think this bypasses the need for the normal bag found in vacuums - quite often a gutter will obviously be part filled with water so do you always use it in wet mode? (or have i got the wrong idea here).
I think it is very likely i will purchase one soon but my van is pretty choc-a-block so will probably trailer it.
Do you use the customers electric or a generator?

No "wet mode" m8. It just means it will suck up wet and dry stuff. It all ends up in the big metal drum.

Yes the poles should be used "upside down" as this prevents debris from catching on the joints of the poles.

No bag in those vacs but there is a large filter in the drum tat you can take out but I prefer to keep it in as it prevents the other filters round the motors from getting blocked. Remover the big filter if there is going to be a lot of wet stuff as it will soon block up.

When you have finished use a hose pipe to clean out the insides of the SL2 sections to keep them clean and spray some PTFE or Teflon on the insides to prevent dirt from sticking to the insides and makeing your bag dirty.
