hi guys
 i have the chance of 2  1000 ltr ibc s
1 has had bleach in ,the other has had acid in
do you think they will be suitable after rinsing well ,
for storing pure water

ps ,they are freebies

Go for bleach as it should be easily neutralized by flushing with lots of water.

Acid shouldn't be a problem surely??

It won't smell like bleach!

Just rinse with lots of water.

Acid will rinse very easily,.. bleach may not.

Rinse both with plain tap water,.. don't try to neutralise the acid by mixing an alkaline,... all sorts of toxic fumes could result!

Yep should be ok, I got two used for diesel and spent an hour jet washing them out.

I have one that had vegetable oil in, a real pain in the ****, Had to pressure wash with hot water and tfr even rattled a few stone chipping around in it, is OK now though, been using it for nearly 2 years.

Both acid and bleach will be completely removed by sufficient rinsing. And here's how to rinse:

First of all, DON'T completely fill and then empty and repeat this process. It is very time consuming and wasteful.

Wash with 25 litres and swill it around well. Empty it.
Repeat 5 times.

Here's how it works:

Assume (a) there's 1 litre of stuff left in the IBC. (There won't be that much.) and (b) there's 1 litre of rinsing water left after you empty it (since you cannot empty completely).

Rinse 1 - dilution = 25:1
Rinse 2 - dilution = 25 x 25: 1 = 625:1
Rinse 3 - dilution = 25 x 25 x 25:1 = 15625:1
Etc.
Rinse 4 - dilution = 390625:1
Rinse 5 - dilution = 9765625:1

A 9 million to 1 dilution should be good enough for window washing and is achieved with only 125 litres of water.
