The reading out of the RO will probably drop over a day or two.

You will get a very slightly higher reading out of the RO with the extra membrane on it though. Minimal really.

YUP everything looks OK from what you have said.

Don't bother backflushing. It won't make any difference to TDS out.
I hope you ran the RO disconnected from the DI for around 30 mins or so because the new membrane will give you a high reading out until the chemicals have gone from it. Any time you put a new membrane in or run an RO for the 1st time you need to get rid of the first few gallons of product water down the drain.

How long will the 2nd one last?  Prob 2 to 3 years if you change prefilters regularly as per instructions for your RO and give the system a regular flush.

Everyone talks about backflushing RO's. With the RO-MAN type and most 40 inch systems all you do by opening the flush valve is let the water flow freely through the system with no restrictions. This gives it a good clean out but doesn't backwash the membranes because there is hardly any pressure to force the water through them. It's basically a surface wash which is all you need to keep the sys in good nic.
