Hi Jay,

Just want to do a bit of research with you, hope you don't mind.

Cleaningspot are a good company and want to know if "free delivery" drew your attraction even though in total they are a couple of quid more expensive than us. A lot of companies do this now and say "free delivery" as the shopping cart they use does not allow mulitple delivery prices and therefore add the delivery onto the cost. Then add the moto free delivery with orders over £50 etc..

Have spent the afternoon with my website provider as we will be adding more products and this came into debate where he agreed that this was a good sales pitch.

Just wanted your opinion if "free delivery" attracted you.

Hope you don't mind me asking.

Many Thanks

Free delivery always attracts my attention!

When I'm shopping it does make me relax a little. However a 'savvy' buyer knows that the cost of delivery will have to be included somewhere, usually in the price.

Yeah it did attract me, I've used them before, so that helped with my decision.

Also, I try and get a few prices together as well.  I went to clean tech, and with all the bits and pieces that I bought, plus delivery, they were more expensive than cleaning spot.

ALSO: When I dealt with Cleaning Spot before, i managed to haggle the price down a fair amount.  I tried to do the same this morning, but they said that they couldn't give me any discount, as their prices were as low as they could go anyway.  For this reason I won't feel like I should use only them again.  When buying £150 worth of stuff, i like some sort of discount if I can.

I didn't know you were a supplier til this morning, after I'd made my order.  So I'll try you next time!!

I will have to try and get discount from Marks & Spencers or Tesco on our weekly shopping or fuel bills.
Tell me do your window cleaning customers give discount?

For a single £10.00 house, no. If the guy or gal had 5 houses they wanted cleaning, then yes. You are always welcome to say no thanks to anybody trying to haggle, personally I see no probem with it.

Your analogy is a little flawed anyway, the average member of staff checking out your stuff is not likely to be authorised to give any discount. Plus, imagine if they were known to give in to haggling, the ques would be out the door with the delays.

However in the position of resin suppliers, where you are just one of a number of different suppliers selling basically the same thing all looking for our business, I see no harm in asking.

Exactly Davids3511.

I would and often do give a discount to customers if they're putting a lot of work my way.

It goes both ways, and if I'm given some sort of discount, I become a more loyal customer. (Well, most of the time!)

I do not  haggle on price ever with a customer, I used to do it, but now, I offer a good price for a good job.

You sound like a chancer and there is nothing wrong with that.

I personally use a few companies, I know full well they are a little more expensive but the customer service IMO is worth more and I can depend on them, Alex is one of them.

A few pennies extra for the peice of mind is well worth it.

Hi Ian

I tend to agree but I find that most of the suppliers I use have never let me down. Varitech are excellent in my opinion, Wintecs have never let me down and Cleantech are in the same bracket. I have never used Gardners but they seem to have an excellent reputation too.

If they are all basically the same on price and I am after more than one bag I will see who gives the best deal.

For a single £10.00 house, no. If the guy or gal had 5 houses they wanted cleaning, then yes
Difference is the resin has to be bought, stored and to be sold a phone has to be answered and the resin has to be packaged to be sent out
But there  is less than £10.00 profit in a bag of resin, if that much!.
Doesnt make sense to me that people would discount their products  so much they dont make any profit, in fact I know for certain  that many if not most wfp suppliers are  loosing money. You only need to look at their accounts filed with companies house to see realy large losses over a year.

We sell at £65.00 a bag even at £1.00 less and we wouldnt make any money at all by the time we pay Mortgage, Rates, Wages, holiday pay, public and employers liability insurance, telephone etc. etc.

Just putting my point across.
