hi can anyone reccomend pvc frame cleaner cream, spirit.

got a customer whose ledges have turned yellow

ps what would you charge for say frames of a 3 bed semi
days money ?

i tend to put customers off
1. because i don't know what to charge
2. i not confident on the results, don't want to spend all day doing it for say £120 and find result not too great and then end up in row over price with customer

I tend to take cowards approach and say their are guys in yellow pages who do that.

Maybe i'm negative i just feel people expect you to work for nothing as your a w/c

there are so many differant products out there for cleaning pvc we use loads. premier products do one.

if the customer has used bleach on the upvc it will turn yellow and im sure once that has happened you wont ever get to restore them back to white but i stand to be corrected

go for the upvc solvent cleaner, that'll get it off, don't bother with the cream cleaner ones as they ain't strong enough, got mine from a plastics company about £4 for a litre bottle.
Try it on 1 downstairs window first to see how long it takes you,

be very carefull with the solvent cleaner, yes it will remove marks , but also removes some of the top coat of upvc. i only use the solvent when i fit fascia/soffit/guttering to semove pencil marks ect , cream cleaner and a sponge/ scourer will remove most if done properley.if however someone has used bleach as some one said earlier , then in my opinion, these are seldom bought back to a good finish.

i use jml doktor power or thompsons upvc cleaner available from focus i found the thompsons very good and have done a few jobs with this, i only use the solvent cleaner for really ground in bits and not as the general cleaner for the reasons already mentioned..

are they asking for a upvc resteration? or just a clean ? two different jobs the first one being alot more than the second! make sure you know what they expect for their money .

be careful not to get any chemical on the rubber seal of the window as it smudges!

The Yellowness is more than likely due to the lack of UV Protector in the PVC, I spent several years working for a PVC manufacture in all departments including extrusion and blending. If it is due to lack of the product, You won't shift it for long, as stated, you will remove the top layer, then it will reappear.
