Is there anyone out there who operates from commercial premises and has to pay for their water rates and water usage (WFP)?

We are in the process of buying some land and getting premises built (approx 2000 sq ft) plus about the same area again in hard standing.

I've been trying to work out what our water costs are going to be and it's not straight forward, it seems like you have to pay:

Clean water

Standing charge depending upon your meter size - £30.00

Water usage charged at - £0.8911/m³

Sewage Waste

Charge  - £0.8495/m³

Surface area Charge
Ffor getting rid of rain water that falls on your land!!! -

£610.50 for an area up to 1500 m³

So by my calculations, we use approx 1.00m³ of pure water per day, if this goes through a 40" RO at 1:1 waste then we are using 2m per day on average and putting 1m to waste

So our costs are going to be in the region of £1500/year or £30/week, does this sound about right?

You sewerage charge should come down as your not dumping what they thing from stardard charges.

£30 a week is not bad to be honest, I would call them and speak about the waste part it may well reduce that fee

depending on your water board you should be able to pay a set amount for water based on total yearly volume.  2000ltrs/day = 500,000ltrs year approx

prob in the region of £500 - £600

I've been up since 4am this morning, this is a BIG step for us and I'm just making sure I know what we're letting ourselves in for!

The other thing I was doing at that time was looking on Autotrader for a new MPV for our domestic cleaners as the Y reg Berlingo van they have has lost 5th gear! and it was going to cost £500 + with parts and labour to get it fixed.

Found the one I wanted, phoned them up this morning and just done a 320 mile round trip this afternoon to sunny Sidiothorpe and back to buy and pick up a  cracking Citroen Berlingo Multispace, 07 plate with 24 miles on the clock!!  

It was part of a cancelled fleet order so I got if for an absolute song, plus they gave me £1500 for my Y reg Berlingo van (sold as seen), forgot to tell them about the missing fifth gear or the fact that the key won't fit the passenger door!!   Oops!

The next best part ex price I had been given was £600 and that was from a Citroen dealer so I'm well chuffed tonight.

I'm going to ring Northumbrian water tomorrow to see if I can have a meeting with someone to get a better idea, it's the surface water charge that's the big one, and I'm not sure how they calculate that bit.

We rent premises - basically a condemned cowshed with a lightbulb and tap. We pay business rates and our water is on a meter, shared by 4 other tenants. Their usage is minimal. We have gone from ROman basic RO to Merlin to 3 x 4 40s in 18 months. The landlord splits the charges, fairly in my opinion, and we pay £400 - £500 for water usage per quarter.

I,ll check mine later, but, i,m sure the last bill was just over £300.

We have commercial system working on 50/50 ratio with a 3500 litre storage tank.

We use approx 1200 to 1500 litres a day sometimes more.

Our unit is 750 sq feet if that makes a difference on supply.
