hi there,

may i suggest that you search 'builders clean' in the forum, as there is a lot on here at the present time.

your post, provokes a number of questions--

size of plot, number of cleans required, one off, or are you going to get the full site.

electric and water on, spec from the builder.

110v or 240 v vacuuming requirement,

window cleaning, ground, first, second etc

any core units to be done.

any jet washing?

payment terms from builder,

CIS registration card, or tax certificate?

etc, etc.

where in the country are you?

feel free to ask questions.

all of the above would provide a good grounding for a sensible pricing structure.

regards

martin

Hi I'm Paul (newbee)

Ive been in the cleaning business for over three years, Ive only scraped the surface of newbuild cleans, but normally charge between 10 - 15 pence per sq ft, for the first clean, then half this for the second, normally a 1000 sq ft property has taken about 3-4 hours for two staff to complete,  no good for a one off but ok for 10 properties.

As for the 18% cis this is claimed back (end of year) paye nics or maternity pay etc...

Im no expert on newbuilds and would welcome any sound advice on prices etc, for future ref.

Paul

Paul,

I think we have all been reading Martins progress with interest and think I should be having some of that.

But Martin is very Dynamic and determined and appears to have a partner I do not know who working with him. I think this helps.

What i find strange in this forun is there appears to be no training companies you go to to get you started,

In Carpet Cleaning there our Numerous training providers who help you set up a carpet cleaning company to rival any Franchise operation.  If you succed or not depends on individual effort but the blue prints are available and mainly follow same idea but with unique features of each traing provider.

There now appears to be one for Window Cleaners.

I now some Colleges run some sort of course  but they do not apear to be aimed at setting an individual up as A Contract Cleaner, or Domestic or Builders Clean

Hi All
Martin is correct when he suggests that you look back over the past months in the forum, as many questions have been posted.
However, there are many points that Martin has pointed out that may trigger some questions from yourself or others, so keep on posting them?!?!

The only thing I could add to Martins list...
Health and Safety documents which would include your work instructions and method statements, policies etc...COSHH Documents. All staff wearing P.P.E and working out what equipment and materials you will be using.

I asked around two months ago about some sort of training provider or association for this particular avenue of cleaning.....but haven't found anything yet....Any offers on starting one?

I know BICS etc do training....but it doesn't seem to specialise cleaning...i.e builders cleans etc.

Maybe when people like Martin, myself or anyone else makes their money and want to diversify for a rest.....they may be an opportunity here to make money.
( think I had better patent this idea quickly!!!!! )

All the best Kev in your endeavours and to all of us hard working people in the cleaning trade.

Regards

Tim

hi there,

there are lots of opportunites, in the future, for diversification and expansion.

extremely low start franchising, with the all the admin support done for the franchisee, 70% of work supplied etc, these are all factors and points that are being looked into.

However you must understand that obviously I am looking after number one first, namely ME.  but later this year I can see a lot of possibilities being generated.

right got to go.
