Need 40 foot pole advice
« on: July 17, 2008, 12:59:31 pm »
Got a job where i need a pole about 40 foot long. Any tips as to how much im going to have to spend and any places to try. Dont want to spend too much as its a once a month job so would a fibreglass workout alright or would it be too heavy.

fibreglass would be like using a piece of spaghetti (cooked)
we had one a few years ago, it was a nightmare.
Obviously times have moved on a bit, but I think c fibre is the way to go.
I generally use a 57" for 40 and above.

agree with birdymiller ive got a 40ft glass fibre, fully extended it is a nightmare, slightest bit of wind and youve lost it. I'm going to invest in carbon fibre very soon!!!

birdy you should speak to jeff brimble about fishing poles, he uses them and reckons its the bees knees, cheap and extremely light - I've had no joy with them but we are very hard on poles.
I've never been to bed with an ugly bird but I've woken up with loads!
