School Quote ?
« on: July 07, 2008, 05:35:58 pm »
I have just been asked to give a quote for a local 1500 pupil school ! I was chosen to give a quote because I live very close ! ( yell.com free )  It hasnt been cleaned for 3 years , and they want it cleaning for when the new term starts .    Any suggestions on pricing would be very helpful, Thanks  ;D

Obviously without pics pricing is impossible.  Here is a chance to use your negotiating skills though.  Clearly, the first clean needs to be a sky high price.  However, if you can tie them in to signing perhaps a two year contract, maybe you could offer the first clean at standard rate.  I have a job like this.  The first clean was awful and I made rather less money on it than I would normally expect.  Second clean was somewhat better.  Third clean (done yesterday), I did well from.  A bit of a pig over the first two cleans but you can soon claw back the loss on them.

Not being funny but i would go in at more than that,if i needed the job then maybe but other than that i wouldn`t.We done a school a few years back like that 1 and £1200 wasn`t enough as they were rot and you couldn`t just give them the once over,i would think about it carefully.

is it all on one level?
if it hasn,t been cleaned for that period of time its will be hard job, if its not going to be a regular job I would lump a price in on it  and wouldn,t  lose any sleep about it if you don,t get it..

If you need to add a little to your "wet weather work" list, you might look into floor waxing and maintenance for schools. I do a bit of it, and though its not as well paid as windows it does keep the cashflow going over the usual washout summers that we've suffered recently.
They're normally very easy going,.. the schools I'm in don't care what hours I work once the job is done before term starts,.. so whenever it rains I'm still earning.
