Query about backpacks
« on: June 30, 2008, 08:46:42 pm »
At the moment I'm working with traditional window cleaning methods but am toying with the idea of buying a backpack system to use occasionally on awkward windows (mainly those with slants beneath).  Obviously I need the backpack itself and a pole but do I need anything else such as something to purify the water?  Please keep in mind that I am 100% traditional at the moment so I'm not even sure if I can use a backpack on its own.  From what I have read I suspect that backpacks may just be an extra tool for people to use that already have a full wfp system?

You will need to buy an RO unit that is used to produce the water at home, you will also need a tank to keep the water in and a transfer pump to fill up containers from the tank at home.As you have no DI ie resin vessel in the van you will need 1 at home to get the water reading down to 000,www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk. will sort you out and tell you the basics.

Depending on how hard your water is, you may not need an RO. I use a DI vessel only and it works fine for me.

As said you may not need a RO, only a DI vessel. You don't need a tank to keep water in or a transfer pump (talk about complicating things ;)) At home purify water with RO or DI into 20 litre containers. If you are only using the backpack for awkward windows you won't need much (I can work all day wfp this way). Fill the backpack from the container. Jobs a good 'un ;D

Thanks for all the help.  I live in the Birmingham West Midlands area or to be more specific Quinton.  I have been told that the water where I live is soft but turns to hard about a mile or so away from where I live.
