rubber blocks on pointers

hi all,
i use a pointer double extension ladder i use regular. however it came with no rubber block. does the rubber / plastic top block make much difference? by the way they are aluminum.

My double point has a rubber block!! I think it is vital for safety and stability, i could be wrong but it sounds dangerous!!! What do you rest your point on??

stick it in the corner between the jome stone and window...just leaves marks on pvc windows and actually went halfway thru a rotten frame on a pub i do

I wouldn't use a pointer without the point, it seems a bit dangerous and pointless. ;D
