Which VariStream
« on: June 06, 2008, 03:24:33 pm »
Hi,

I am just wondering which VariStream to buy as i'm going to work out my van. I have seen a standard VariStream, VariStream 2 and a digital VariStream was just wondering what would be best to get and whats the difference in them and are there others as i don't really know anything about them except what they do,not really bothered about price.

i like the digital one to be honest. i use a flowmaster which i think is similar to the standard varistream, but i much prefer digi, only thing is it is possible to adjust the standard one a little bit more ie 1 and a 1/2

with a dial you have to keep turning it up and down, and you dont always put it on same setting twice, with digi you just turn it on and if its set on 3 itl stay on 3 always

Thanks for the input peeps I see on the VariStream 2 it automaticaly adjusts the pressure if you extend the pole alot higher etc or if you take the pole of it detects the change in pressure and stops the water flow does the digital one do this aswell. Or basically does the digital one do the same as the VariStream 2 but is more accurate

Thanks again

When I went to get my system from Pure Freedom, they had a box full of Varisteam which had been returned faulty ::).

I believe they now use only Flowmasters altho Varistrams may have improved.

The varistream 2 is a good bit of kit.  The flow rate dial is also a push buton to power on and off, so you can keep the same flow rate all the time (not turning down to off then on and back up).  I feel you have slightly more adjustment with a dial than just 10 digital settings.

However on the inside of the varistream 2 is a pressure dial and it is a pain to get to.  With the digital version you can reset the pressure dial easily without taking the unit apart.

i have had the two, the one with the numpty, and now have the digitals. I prefer them and the front is a bit more watertight. But the controls are easier to set and change. Theres nothing on the front to get snapped off!

I have another digital one for sale along with pump box if you look on the buy & sell used equipment topic. Its 4 months old bought from pure freedom works great. Id prefer to sell it as the complete pump box and can deliver.

The numpty on the old Varistram was always a bit suspect. Being a combination on off switch and speed controller combined it came in for a lot of wear and wasn't really strong enough IMO.

i got the digital varistream, i was told by the guy at williamson pumps that theres less chance of water getting in and theres no numpty to get broken,

one thing he did say is that the varistream replaces the switch in the pump, where other make are just voltage adjustment to control the flow which still uses the pumps switch

i used another make switch with a blue front(mentioning no names) and 2 broke after 2-3 months all with the same problem ,they took them back and fixed foc but you dont need the hastle
