Im looking to add on carpet cleaning and have been looking for a decent machine capable of doing domestic & commercial carpets and upholstery, I looked at the mighty pro from rug doctor and it looks promising but am no expert, the numatic cleaners look good as well.

Could anyone let me know their thoughts on these machines or recommend a good  one that doesnt cost too much (around £500-£700 mark).
Also, is it necessary to have a dryer for carpets.

Hi Derek,
In my opinion this machine isnt upto the job, its no good turning up at someones house to clean there carpets with a machine they can hire themselves for £30.00. Have a look on ebay there is someone on there selling rhino machines for around the £800.00 mark that have adjustable 500 psi pump and twin vacs.

Mark has given you good advice.

I would go and do a course if I were you. . Many of the leading machine suppliers offer them. I did the Prochem one which was excellent. Just bare in mind if you attend a course laid on by a supplier, their agenda will be to sell you there goods. This doesn't always give you the whole picture.

If I could go back I would have done the Ncca course instead.  Because they don't supply machinery or chems, they will be able to give you the low down on everything as they find it. Without being biased towards any particular brand.

When you say carpet cleaning as an add on.....  add on to what?
what you been doing in the past.
see you been a member of this forum since 2006 ....... have you been window cleaning or maybe general cleaning.

The rhino i mentioned has only 3 hours to go and is only at £520, brand new with 12 months warranty has to be worth a look.

BET IT GOES FOR MORE THAN THAT.

re RUG DOCTOR  The commercial one used in Hotels Nursing Homes etc has same vac as other single vac machines.

Water Recovery is equal to other portables, has a brush to agitate nn Water does not have so far to travel only 3 feet to machine which means vac is closer to the work

However customers do  associate it with the Hire Machine,

I rebranded mine which I use for spot cleaning and warden flats etc and its a diffrent colour

Repairs are expensive in relation to value of equipmen and if you buy parts from Rug Doctor they appear to be sold at premium prices.

I watched the Rhino it went for £720.00 twin vacs and adjustable 500psi pump, 2 jet wand and upholstery tool.Brand new with 12 months warranty. Keep an eye on ebay this seller always has one listed and they seem to go for roughly the same amount.

Joe, Yes your correct that price excludes vat and del at £69.00 total price around £900 still cheap with upholstery tool and warranty.

Hows life in Escrick, York? As for the rug doctor, no no. You need to be spending around £2500 for a starter machine.
