400 ltr tank berlingo 800 model
« on: May 22, 2008, 09:34:42 am »
needing help on how a tank can be secured intoa berlngo 800 model.  LWC has one in his peugeot partenr but his van doesn't have a sliding door and i thnk his is fixed via the sides also.

I am told the chassis is far away from the underside of the floor on these vans so securing it could be tricky i reckon.

Also what would be best way to secure tank straps or cage?

Knocked back the VW van as it recently had some paint done on body which was very poor and filler wa scoming off on my hand. on bottom side of vehicle. Gutted about not getting it.

Best way would be to get a tank cage. It is difficult, because you need to remove the whole fuel tank to get underneath the floor, I had it done by somebody else, so sadly I didn't get the chance to see what was under the van there, if there was a chassis member, or just the floor.

i saw an 800 model for sale but can't be bothered having to remove fuel tank just to fit a cage. bit of a pain really.  Is this the same for dispatch vans also?

where can i find a site which shows the dimensions and sketches of vans?

I've just put a 300lt "D" tank in a Courier.  There weren't any convenient chassis members so I bolted in a pair of 50mmx50mmx5mm angle irons - long enough to reach across the van and bolt through to the chassis.  Then I drilled the angle irons in the right places to attach the tank restraints.  With 12mm high tensile bolts, that lot is so strong it will destroy the van before it gives way.
