I made my own fill port with male hoselock connectors, so you can put the female connectors on there. But every time I take off the hose reel an almighty jet bursts out, de pressurising the system.

Now I understand why other fill ports have female shut off connectors on there, that way when you disconnect the hose you don't get wet. Interesting things you come across when building something yourself.

How do the caravan ports work? Because they have a male connector on there, do they use a similar shut off internally?

How would I go about changing this? Just fit a female stop connector on the fill port plate, instead of the male? What would I need on the end of my minibore though? Or can I still use my female connector, but have a double male stuck in there so I can stick it in the female on the fill port?

Hehe, I've been splashed twice now, then I was like, yea this is not going to work.  ;D

Not my picture btw, that's Bruce Williamson's one, I didn't have a picture of mine, it's identical though.

Yea, but.........ey how the heck does that work then....do you have a picture of yours? Yes the hosereel has a stop connector, but the male doesn't, once you unhook the reel, surely the hoses behind it must still be under pressure?
