Hi

I have an IBC secured through the floor of my van.Took it to my local mechanic who charged me £30.Best investment on the van.You can baffle them yourself using any type of soil pipe cut to length.

Providing it secured in your van properly then there shouldnt be any problem jampot.Too many do gooders on this site mate.its what you feel comfortable with.I,ve used ibcs for the last 4yrs and know other users who have no probs with them.I had a tucker system fitted by them as my 1st system and guess how it was fixed in to my escort,  ratchet straps.....

Do gooders, or other people that have a different option than your own :-\

The problem with an ibc is if half full the motion of water can/will become dangerous.
when turning a corner this could become a problem, I am not dead set against this idea at all as I know others use them.
why not just buy a baffled tank and put that in the van this is what they are made for afterall. and people that are using ratchet straps fair play on them, it is not the strap that is the problem it is the fixing it is on that is dangerous on many.
if fitted correctly and baffled correctly an ibc would to fine.

To me it sound like to much messing about so I would get a baffled tank and have someone install it unless you know how of course.

Ian don`t take this the wrong way but the tank you have in your van 650 i think is in no way baffled,it has a hole in the  middle which they pass off as a baffle trust me it`s not.I have had a custom tank fitted in my van within the last week which is properly baffled and you would not beleive the difference in the way the van handles and corners,a baffled tank stops the water from sloshing around you should hardly hear it no matter how large or small amount your carrying, can you say that about your tank i couldn`t when i had one.

the guys that make the custom tanks do a good job with baffling i think, with lots of fixed internal walls to divide the space up, like this:

http   ://www.plasticwatertanks.co.uk/7.html

http   ://www.ro-man.com/shop/popup_image.php/pID/345

see the inside of tank picture

to make it the same in an ibc i would imagine filling it with as wide diameter drain pipes as will go in the big lid full up.

To be honest I have never heard the water sloshing about , when I get it back I will listen out for it, the cut out in the tank is a baffle, when it moves it hits them making it slow down. I will not say anymore till I get it back and I will test it as I am saying this from memory as I may have over looked it.

How much was your custom was it fitted and how many lts is it?

Ian your completley wrong, your tank is not baffled. It has a hole cut out in the middle of it that`s not a proper way to baffle a tank,it`s the cheapest. My van drives completley different now and i mean different, speak to Neil at www.plasticwatertanks.com and ask him if your tank is properly baffled.Look on Ebay at the Omnipole tank for sale with the lid open, that`s the safest possible way to transport water.

my tank has 2 holes if memory serves me right, I do know what you mean, I just looked on the site, what size did you get and what price, and a direct link would be welcome so I can have a look, there are so many different names for tanks it is untrue, I have been looking at tanks for a few days as I need another one soon.
