You really wouldn't want to do it.

OK, I know this is not directly a window cleaning thread  but bear with me because it has got a point.

First job yesterday morning was a 1st floor flat, had to be there early before the lady goes to work. The flat below is empty, while I was there a bloke pulls up in a van marked "Hillingdon Contract Services" and goes into the downstairs flat.

Then he comes out again and says "Blimey mate, come and have a look at this" So I followed him back in.

The flat was filthy, absolutely stomach turning and it STUNK like nothing you could describe. But the amazing thing was the fact that there were hundreds and hundreds of empty Captain Morgan rum bottles all around the walls of every room about four or five rows deep in places. Must have been close on a thousand.

I only stayed in there for one lungfull of air before I came out. Turns out the bloke who had been living in the flat had died ( surprise surprise) and the bloke I had been talking to had been sent to clean up the flat. And thats what he does for a living! Appalling!

Can you imagine it? I would never, could never do that for a living. That flat was absolutely revolting and although I spent the rest of the day in the fresh air I couldn't get that smell out of my nose.

It has made me feel really good about what I do. This job is not so bad. That bloke could go on the telly for having the worst job in the world.

I'm glad I am a window cleaner, fresh air is great.

Its called Trauma cleaning, you can charge £150+ per hour for the severe stuff. Its potentially very dangerous work with poisons in the air and the risk of catching fatal diseases if handled incorrectly, Luke

I've been in some stomach-churning hell holes over the years

One or two that come to mind were the ****holes where people filled envelopes for a living... and lived among dogs and their excrement, chain smokers, urine soaked sofas, places where you would gag.

The nasty end of the life-spectrum in conditions that beggar belief.  I acually look back on it with some sadness, because when you are young and see these things it's easy to think they are 'below' you in some way, whether they are alchoholics or whatever, well in a way they are 'below', but the snobbery involved in looking at these scumbags is almost as disgusting.

Some humans lives are truly terrible and degrading, tank god I'm a crummy little window cleaner.

like premiership dosh
in fact even that might not be enough :-X :-X :-X
maybe someone on the contract cleaning section knows about it all ???

I've seen this sort of stuff on TV but nothing prepares you for the real thing. I bet the bloke that had to clean it up wasn't getting £150 an hour. Council workers get about £7.60 an hour.

I would do it if it paid enough.

But i would expect you would need specialist training and i would not know how to price the jobs up anyway as i wouldn't really know how long it would take.
