Cobblers unite!!!
« on: April 22, 2008, 11:28:41 pm »
They may have removed my thread about my cobbled system, but some good has come out of it as I found that many people who normally argue against me were actually supporting me on this thread, which was a breath of fresh air for me!! :D Of course most of the flash system brigade were trying to justify the huge expense of their systems. So why has this hugely popular thread been locked and then removed? It was entertaining and a good healthy debate!!

Even though I'm part of the "flash system brigade" lol - I was enjoying this thread, shouldn't have been locked and removed. Everybody has a right to their own opinion.

If it was removed it wasn't by me, if it was locked it would have been because of people continually going off topic, too many conversational replies, too much flaming and so on.

I'm a cobbler! Whats more a lot of people on this forum probably think I talk cobblers!

I always prefer to build my own gear.

I'm afraid that I stopped reading it after it got to 2 pages!

I personally feel that there is a very real place for 'cobbling' as you call it. I would prefer to call it a 'custom-built system' or a 'bespoke system'  :)

You would have to rank my own system that I use for my commercial contracts as a 'bespoke system'. It consists of a custom built tank, custom built drip tray, custom built tank restraint bars, a Flojet pump and strainer, a switch and wire, 1/2" hose, splitter and two hose reel connections. Very simple and put together by myself (the tank, drip tray and tank restraints were built by professionals though). Total cost = about £570.

both my vans have cobbled/custom/bespoke systems in. Built both myself and they do the job perfectly, and if you added up the cost of both I dont think I could have bought a 'flash system'

I think it is a mistake by the mods to lock and remove popular threads, even if the debate is getting slightly heated. These are the kind of threads which keep people coming back to the forum, it keeps things interesting and entertaining!!  ;)
