Hi Guys

The strength of Google as has been stated is the relevance of its results, if they were to go to paid for listings only on the first few pages, then they would effectively become just another directory and people would soon switch.

On of the beauties of the internet is that we can switch very quickly, simply by using a different search engine.

The pressure on Google is typical of what happens when money becomes the overiding consideration, as happens with public quoted companies who have to dance to the tune of their shareholders.

Cheers

Doug

From what i have heard about Mark he knows very little about Google listings and such like.

Hi Neil, you heard wrong then, Ive been doing seo for over 10 years and have tried and tested every trick in the book but I choose rarely to blow my own trumpet on the forums and certainly wont be giving out mis-information & waffle talks on the subject because my sites work, people spread my name - un-asked as you can see.

I'll let my sites do the talking for me ;) 6 of mine are on the first 2 pages of google for *carpet cleaning* and its unusual if a site Ive done doesn't get to no1 for muitible *carpet cleaning your area* in the natural listings which is what 80% of people click on rather than adwords. For fast results and some products etc their great, but for selling a service natural listings win everytime, especially if your no1 or 2 for your area, maybe one day your get your site to those natural positions Neil? (looking at your sites code I doubt it though as its a shocker from an seo point of view)

There are also other ways to generate leads off the internet, a hotel website I done last year is in a highly competitive area for its keywords, they now solely get all their business from the web but not from adwords or natural listings...

Microsoft on the net=fail, the same rumours came up when ms brought out live search - as Doug says it will never happen, natural will always dominate because of relervance and we will follow the seo trends like normal.

Mark

why the personal attack, I was only going on what people have told me, but as I said in my mail if that is wrong i am sorry.

It was never ment to be a slight on you. I will ask my provider why this is and come back to you, thanks for raising it. Natural listings are not as good as Adwords and thats whats it all about for me anyway,

Adwords is pulling over between £2500 and £3000 a month with a spend of around £150 a month, adwords does work and works well.

By the way the towns i wanted to be listed on Natural listings I am on the first page, Camberley, Fleet, Aldershot, Basingstoke, Farnborough, and Yateley. Not really bothered about other area's as this is my working area.

Cheers

Neil

Phew, just got back from picking up my new Truck Mount, I read your posts with interest Neil, I am not sure ANYONE can say what Google will and wont do in the future, its all speculation.

With regards to big companies putting pressure on Google?? Surely if Natural listings were changed to prioritise Ad Words - Sponsored listings then Google wouldn't be considered a true search engine, just a paid directory site.
