« on: April 14, 2008, 07:12:35 pm »
Is it possible to clean windows that are 150' high with either the Emporium or SL2?

This is a serious question as I need to summit price within 1 week if its possible.

150ft with a pole IMO would be dangerous as you would not be able to control it if wind hit it. it is not covered as far as I know in H&f but at a guess that would be total madness to try it, that is what pickers etc are for. if I am wrong I will eat me ciggy

LMAO,... I'd say not a hope,... BUT,.. Jeff Brimble may have a solution,... perhaps a combination of a 80 foot cherry picker and a super long pole???

Perhaps you could get someone to support the pole (SL2 or similar) from the rooftop similar to the 83ft Tucker WFP method using three people.

You would need someone on the roof with a guide rope tied to the pole, you would also need someone at the bottom with you to let you know where you stepping, after all that you`ll need your head testing ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D lol.

Whilst it would be possible to get the pole up there, as technically you would just need to keep adding sections, realistically the answer has to be NO. This is because you would need some kind of brush support as it would be almost impossible with that length of pole to effectively control the brush. You would also not be able to move the brush sideways from that far away. By the time you had found a way of controlling the brush you would have defeated the whole aim of cleaning from the ground.

Cheers for the replys, I was just wondering because I remember seeing photos of a 2 man set up, who was using a pole at 180', I think they where in the USA, and they were using a tucker pole.

A few questions.

Do you need a licence or qualification to use a cherry picker?

What size cherry picker should I use?

Who hires them in Birmingham?

Any other pointers you can suggest?

Careful with those cherry pickers. My nephew was up one at 3:30am cleaning Bournemouth library and it toppled over. Fortunately he just ended up with cracked ribs but the ambulance crew said he was very lucky.
