Good and bad ...
« on: March 31, 2008, 11:05:19 pm »
Well, a pretty good day because I finished the year as a one man band over £2500 more on turnover/profit than last year.

Bad because  today I just got a letter cancelling a nice little commercial earner.

Ho hum! Onward and upward!

 :-\

How's your financial year been? (Without too much detail of course!)
It's a game of three halves!

up 22% this last year (turnover) and up around 16% on net profit, happy enough.

however we weren't as busy as we could have been last year.

still happy though.
I've never been to bed with an ugly bird but I've woken up with loads!

not as good this year as previous years, I think it was because of the very wet summer we had last year. spent many days in the house.
I started out with nothing......I still have most of it.

Turnover is up 27% on last year, considering I am still not employing, and probably won't do now, I am chuffed.

do you not find 2 man teams make you less than one man in each van ?

I have noticed this quite a bit and am changing to one man per van

I'm 6 months into my current accounting year.  My turnover is getting on for 50% up on the same period in my previous accounting year.  If that trend continues until the end of my current accounting year (30/9), I will be well happy.

We're down 07/08 by a fair whack; due to house renovation and losing sight of the 'work' ball.  We also lost a fair bit of good quality commercial work (I say good quality, and it was by our low standands), which wasn't nice.

But since the New Year, we're back on track, and I've been taking on some well priced work; hitting all our targets (just about) with regards to getting work done, and have had some nice little earners on top.

I'm also going to stick up my underpriced accounts to where they should be (just about); so this financial year should be a good one.

I've also got two quotes to do for large rural houses in 'Roy Harding' territory!  ;D
