Half price pumps
« on: March 19, 2008, 11:19:31 pm »
Ordered 2 17 litre per minute pumps @ 40psi from Ebay - DIAPHRAGM PUMP 12V ON-DEMAND 17L/MIN (230225669817).

Came this morning, to the house whilst I was up at our unit so unable to test on quality. Basically the same as a Flojet but have an additional inline mesh filter.

Price is £59.99 plus posting - because I ordered two I didn't pay anymore on postage.

Compared to Flojet these are less than half price. Have a look at his Ebay shop for others with less litres per minute.

Again as of this thread untested but will be testing tomorrow morning

It will be interesting to see if this specification of pump actually works. At 40 psi the pressure switch is much lower than usually used in window cleaning applications.  You may find that that the switch will not stay on properly and will constantly switch on and off.  Also the flow rate is far too high for our needs.  We usually use pumps with about 6-8 litres per minute, 17 litres per minute will use up a lot of water very quickly.  These type of pumps are used in agricultural pumping.  Having said all of that they may work very well - we'll find out after your test!

The PSI rating won't count for much, once the pressure switch is removed in order to fit a varistream.
I know you don't use them Matt, but a 17ltr a min flow rate would soon run your battery down if you were using a bypass.

Does anyone know the flow rate of the  backpack pump? That is set at 40 PSI. Dai

The pumps that I have bought at 17 litres per minute are to 'push' water to a Karcher 745 that will not draw from a barrell and the second one is to bridge a 1000 litre tank and 400 litre tank in the same vehicle for our drain jetter.

The post was primarily to show that the supplier has pumps of the same rating that are used in window cleaning but at a fraction of the cost.

I will be testing it to clean our vans tomorrow - will let you know

doesnt matter what the psi is as the switch will be disconected when used with a pump controller they will work just fine
