Cleaning Franchises
« on: December 08, 2004, 07:35:31 pm »
About 5 year ago I enquired about franchises Stainbusters,Safeclean,Servicemaster all the usual suspects but decided to go it alone. My point is why after all this time do they still send me information about their franchises Stainbusters & Safeclean being the biggest culprits. If there is a franchise seminar on I  receive all their literature. It makes interesting reading how much you can earn for low start up costs. ::)

It's called marketing.

Learn from their examples and market your service to the same people over and over and over again. Our Marketing Guru on Clean It Up does this with great success up in his native Hull.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

hi there,

i agree re marketing, is a golden rule of winning business.

its a bit like follow up, follow up, follow up.

what is the point of quoting, and not following up. ??

Steve,

I get the same regular info and emails regarding cleaning franchaises constantly.

It was tempting when I first started up to go with a franchaise, but the figures didn't add up and I decided to go it alone.

With hindsight I think it was a wise move as we have branched out into many other aspects of cleaning which would probably have been off limits within a franchaise.

It would be interesting to know how many of the members on this forum are part of a franchaise and what they feel are the benefits to them and their customers.

I believe I give all of my customers, domestic and commercial complete satisfaction at a fraction of the price of a franchaise, I didn't have the high initial set up costs, high overheads or 10 - 15% management costs associated with a franchaise and I am able to decide how I want the business to grow.

The only things I feel a franchaise has to offer is it's name and contacts with insurance companies.  However in our field I don't think there are any real "household" cleaning names, some people will know SERVICE MASTER, RAINBOW and CHEM DRI but thats about it, whereas everyone seems to know their local cleaners.

Some companies don’t up date their database, all franchisors quote low start up costs, then they hit you can borrow the money and the banks lend it to you and don’t look in to the failure rate within that venture, another database flaw but they know if you get my drift. I would also question central number to call are you flavour of the month?

Will add I have never been a cc franchise, but have the utmost respect for one you listed and one you didn’t,

Regarding discloser who is a franchise don’t think they would or could, be problems with HO, I have an idea who is and who is not a franchisee, will I say please don’t ask as refusal may offend!
