Removing guttering to clean ?
« on: February 27, 2008, 08:22:34 pm »
Went to do a gutter clean today , and the problem I had is the roof tiles were overlaping the gutter , so there was only a narrow gap !   Couldnt get the trowel or brush in !             Got me thinking , wouldnt it be easier to unclip each length  of gutter to clean it then put it back ?  Obviously you could only do this with plastic !

Obvious way ;D

Just make sure when you put it back that there's no c**p between the gutter section and the rubber seal in the clip where two sections join, or there'll be a leak

I only ever did that once and it was on a Bungalow, what a pain it was, like Ian said make sure the joints are clean before refitting, or buy your self a radiator brush they can fit in the worse type of guttering.

I am with Ian on this one. That's the way I used to do gutters like these.

I dont do gutter cleaning any more..  I pass it on to a proper gutter cleaning company. Works well for me coz they get me no end of con roof cleans and stuff like that  :)

too much messing about and if the gutters been up some years you will probally bust a couple of clips . easy way that never fails and ive done loads remove stop end cap or angle section once youve done this go to furthest point of gutter and screw up a rag and place this inside the gutter then using a extension pole push the rag towards the removed end cap and all the crap will drop out . if you can clip a bucket on the end then this will save on sweeping up you no it makes sense mate . :)
