As I understand it, this is a civil matter, the police wont show the slightest shred of interest in this.

You might continue to assess things as you move through your round on a weekly basis, see if he's continuing to pursue your custys, if that proves to be the case then maybe a phone call to ask him what he's up to; dont do anything dumb, stay on the right side of the law and if he is trying to mess you about so long as you have the relevant paper-work and documentation of the transaction with him a solicitor should be able to help you; otherwise start whistling.

Guess he won't really be able to complain if you go round collecting off them though after he's done the work!!
I'm sure you can think of a nice line to feed the customers.. ;D ;D
