Advice wanted for start - up
« on: February 23, 2008, 11:29:13 pm »
Hi All - Steve here, based in Epsom, Surrey.

I haven't cleaned carpets for about 5 years as I am essentialy a carpet and floor layer. But I attended the Prochem training courses years ago and purchased the equipment and offered cleaning as an add-on. Now I want to go into it in a bigger way to give my knees a rest. I have a steameasy 400 with heater, stainless wand, stainless sprayer, agitating brush and a few chemicals and thats it !

I have so many questions I dont know where to start, but here are some that I think are more important:

1. What other equipment should I consider: Sebo Duo, Rotary Machine etc ?
2. Is membership of NCCA a must ?
3. I am in the process of getting a site built, is 2 or more sites better than one or is it all about links and page rankings.
4. Has the industry changed enough to warrant more training ?
5. I am attending Carpex 2008, good show ?

Sorry for all the questions, but I dont want to go into this half-cocked. I read the forums regularly and they are a goldmine of information and you guys are always generous with your advice.

Any replies will be greatly appreciated.

PS: Mr Straker - spoke to you about 18 months ago and you were very helpful, even offering a ride-along, but workloads overtook me and I never got the cleaning side going then, but I haven't forgotten your generous help.

Regards

Steve

Wow Steve,

So many questions in one post, search though previous posts and you'll find most of your answers.

Glad you're interested in coming into the industry :). We're having a carpet cleaners day out on the 7th April in Wolverhampton. Details in sticky posts at top of page. Could be good for you to come along ;)

All the best,
Jason.
