Had a call today from  carpet cleaner who is using eco-spotter on a regular basis and has had several call backs because it has been leaving a dark circle around the spotted area.

Couldn't understand what he meant until I met with him today a job he did on Monday with the same problem.There were 10 areas that stood out clearly on the carpet and the lady was not very amused

It was quickly resolved when I got the CFR off and extracted with just water the spots where he had applied the eco-spotter and the mark dissapeared.Took 10 minutes at most.

He has been using it for spotting but not extracting afterwards and this has been the problem especially on wool carpets which these were today.

He says he has done loads of jobs like this as he thought it would just evaporate away,clearly it hadn't. Are others doing the same? Have you experienced a similar problem?

(As you realised), the dark area around the treated area is most likely carpet soil that has been mobilised by the spotter, since the product does not have any discernable residue.

I have used Eco Spotter without a follow-up rinse and without the problem described but the difference is probably the maner in which it is used. Any solvent - water included - can produce this symtom. It sounds that an excessive amount was sprayed direct onto the carpet, where I would mist-spray and blot or apply the spotter to a suitable carrier such as a towel.

I used Eco-Spotter recently on showhouse carpets where oil had been walked in all over the house.

I sprayed lightly directly onto carpet & used cloth to remove.  Number of marks ran into the hundreds !!

Did not extract off after as would have had to clean the whole house.

Checked carpet the following week,  Perfect !!

Hi Guys

when using as  a spotter it is advisable to remove residue with a cloth as this also acts as additional agitation,  you should use eco spotter sparingly not over treat, this would require rinsing out. Eco   as in economical to use and eco friendly as in no solvent.
