Who wears their wedding ring
« on: January 13, 2008, 10:48:02 am »
Hi All,

I'm getting married in July this year.

I have a concern about wearing my wedding ring to work for a couple of reasons.

The first is that i wear Unger gloves and they bloody stink to high heaven. The second is that i am wfp and i'm worried that the constant contact with the water will eventually ruin the ring.

It would be nice to get some reassurance that the ring will not get damaged by the pure water but i think i'll play safe and remove it each morning.

What are everbody's thoughts on this matter.

Regards,
Lance

Not married luckily, but if I was I certainly wouldn't be seen out with it.

Talk about ruining your chances. ;D

I damaged my wedding ring more when i was trad using ladders as it got caught in the grooves of the tread and would then dig into my finger and pull it out of shape now using pure water the ring is fine and does not get damaged by the water at all so far after two years

Hi there,  I've trad for about 12 years but been married for about 5 and half years and never taken my wedding ring off and never had a problem, I set up my water fed system about 3/4 months ago but have not found that it's made any difference at all.

The only thing I would bear in mind when buying your wedding ring would be the strength of the gold or what ever material it is, I went for a 9 carat gold because it's very strong the higher ther carat the weaker the gold is.

All the best for July.

Gordon.
Quality is doing it right, even when no-one is looking.

I got a titanium ring from this place:

It's incredibly tough, and looks a bit unique too. The only problem is I put on a couple of stone after I got married (All muscle of course) and now I have to get it re-sized. No one local can do the job,.. its just to tough,.. I have to send it back to NZ!!

Thats a welcome bit of New Year news Lance, Congrats and Good luck.

Take your rings off while working from a risk assement point of view they can occasionally catch and remove a finger.

Thanks for your replies and best wishes guys.

It's interesting to see that 50% of trad cleaners remove their rings yet over 3/4 of wfpers leave them on.

Looks like i'll be leaving the ring on then. The reason i was concerned is because it's my grandad's old ring that was left to me by my grandma and i don't want to ruin it.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease.

Lance

Use to take it off, (always took it off when I was a mechanic) struggling now as put weight on, so don't bother. 27 years and still shiny!
