What level of wind do you work in ?.

Today near me the wind is 40 miles per hour gusting to 55mph.

Would you work in it or wait for it to die down ?.

Just interested to get your views.

Dave
As soon as I feel the wind blowing the pole, I'm off home :'(

Just rung Alex - he's soaking, my poor baby  :'(

Just tell him your expecting another addition to the family to make him work harder ;D ;D

I'm back home now.  Another addition? Don't give her any ideas!

It was awful out there today. Fortunately I had a couple of commercial jobs that were reasonably sheltered so we were able to work but we got absolutely soaked.  By about 12 o'clock, it cleared right up, wind dropped and were able to carry on with the rest of the day as scheduled.  If the wind hadn't dropped I would have had to give up as one of my last jobs was a 4 storey apartment block on Falmouth seafront and even I'm not that daft.

 ;D

No, I've had it longer than 12 months.

You'll appreciate this though.  You know the contract you quoted for (as did 50 other people!)  that I ended up losing - he rang me up this week to ask my advice on how to do some of the trickier windows and how he can get his time on the job down to a more reasonable level.   Unfortunately I had to inform him that, that was how long it took, it didn't get any easier and he'd under-priced it.

Was that the big big building which should be at least a million pound a week ?

You should go and demonstrate a superlite to him because he WILL need one for that one, I bet you invented that pole for that job.

Yes it was that trillion pound a week job.  The reality of that property is that whatever pole you use, you end up with an aching back by the end of the day.  It's a nasty job.

it is now raining horizontal here now with what seems like 70 mph winds, the lads are still out and i am grinning from ear to ear knowing i am dry and warm and money is still being earned.

Thank the lord for employees,

I dont have to face the customers looks of discontent, the lads do,and if i lose one or two customers well thats ok, at least i can still put bread on the table this week.

Dave

So much for health & safety from the APWC then :o

Had a big gutter/window cleaning job today, the morning was o.k but about 10 a.m the wind started to pick up but was halfway through the job, had someone footing me but still scared poopless, here and there had to hold on to the gutter to be safe :( made sure we finished up and went home asap!!!!
