Advice needed for first clean
« on: December 18, 2007, 08:48:14 pm »
Hi all,

I have my first job booked in for tomorrow and just wanted to know if there is anybody with advice on what PH chemical I should use.  There is two different carpets and I have done a burn test on both of them but I couldn't make my mind up with what material they were.  They were both man made materials because the material melted when I put it near a flame but one had black smoke and the other had white.  Now from the study notes I've got from the NCCA, that suggests that one is nylon (white smoke) and the other is polyester (black smoke).

Does it really matter whether it's polyester or polypropolene (spelling), I mean is the cleaning process different for these two different types or is it relatively the same and also whats the highest PH I can go to without damaging the carpet.  Also how likely is it that the other carpet is nylon?  Are nylon carpets common in man made carpets?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Chris.

Use something woolsafe, or ph below 8/9 and acid rinse. The worst that can happen then is you have to clean it 2, 3 times until it's clean.

prespray gold
ws microsplitters etc

Unfortunately I've gone and delivered most of my stock of chemicals (by mistake) with a batch of cleaning supplies to a contract that I manage daily cleaning.  I've only got 3 left to choose from.

1. Prespray Gold
2. One Step Premium Fine Line
3. Chemspec DFC 105

which is best to use out of them three?

Put any good presray down, dont worry to much what material it is, you'll still clean it the same way, you can rinse with just hot water its ph neutral so safe on wool, do a dry pass too ;)

dont get bogged down with chems you only need one to prespray thats it, then treat any spots with specific spotter!
