Weather Shock!
« on: April 17, 2009, 09:00:44 am »
Looks like they've got it right for the first time for the last fortnight! It's actually raining outside.
The forecast was so bad at the start of the week that some customers were turning me away >:(
Yesterday was forecast as heavy rain - it was glorious. Wish my customers would stick to the pulling curtains back technique instead of listening to the berks on telly.
Also getting sick of customers saying "it always rains after you've cleaned the windows"  ::)

Yea that really really gets on my nerves. I just say "yea I did my rain dance this morning", they get tired of hearing that, I hope they get the point then that I get tired of them saying their thing.

I've got rain here which I could work in, but it's just enough to make you properly wet. Oh well.  :-\  :D

1 of mine used to say it anyway turned up 1 day when she had just got the neighbour to do her guttering. windows were crap and it was chucking it down. asked her if she wanted to leave it ,she said no and never complained about the rain since ;D    still do not deliberatly clean in the rain though.

I know exactly what you mean. It's on and off here in Yorkshire, which means if I do carry on cleaning and it gets up a bit windy too it won't look like I've actually done anything. This is the issue with most of my customers being out at work all day. They come home to find a note asking to be paid and the windows don't look any different.
I'm fed up, but too far into this business now to back away from it. It's just starting to pay it's way. (after six months of not really paying much, and sleepless nights)
Wish I'd stayed in the Navy sometimes.  :(

The ones who are out don't bother me. It's the ones who are in that are the problem.

steve mate i think you re looking at this all wrong, all i can see on you re post is,it might or what if, all i can suggest is get out and earn no matter what the weather. You say what about custies coming home and windows don t look any differant,WHAT, if you think thats what worries people it s not.We clean 2 weekly and our custies windows never look any differant i e always clean thats why they pay us.I m not having a pop mate because when i first started many years ago i felt the same way but only for a very short time,i think i changed when my mortgage was due and i had not worked because of weather, never ever again cheers mick

I agree, when the bills come in regular you have to be able to pay them. You can't let the weather dicide if you earn or not. Having said that, I won't work when it's tipping it down left to right.

We are just in the process of moving into new areas and won't even give the custies a chance to decide if they want their windows done during drizzle or showers. We would never get through the round if we did.

It was different when I first started though, I was happy to hold the round in any order at all.
