Cleaning in St tropaz
« on: November 18, 2004, 11:51:28 pm »
My only millionaire client has got a yacht out in the south of France he wanted a qoute.  He sent me images through email it includes upholstery and carpets also it includes a large disco area, I would say about the same size as a four bed house plus disco area.

Anyway I said £2000 including expences , what would you guys say about that.

Hi,

My mother-in-law has a small place near St.Tropez and the yachts moored there are something else. :o

It's a good days drive to get there plus motorway tolls  etc.

I'd add another £500 on for recovery time.

Avoid July/August.

Cheers,

Doug

Wow!!!

I would love a job like that.

If he says no to your quote can you pass it on to me?

I would say £2000.00, inc.

£1K for me and £1k for Mark Betts and a weeks holiday on the Yacht.

Imagine how many woman you could pull if you said to them "would you like to come down for a drink on my Yatch". :o

St Tropez is quite a long drive. There's no point "killing" yourself to travel down in 1 day. If you arrive in France early AM, set somewhere like Clermont Ferrand as an overnight stop. Auto Route tolls will cost you a fortune. Last time I went down there on my bike it was free ;D but speaking to a cardriver down there I seem to remember him telling me it was about £250 one way ? It'll be worth checking on.

Have you ever cleaned boats B4? Make sure you have immaculately clean deck shoes. Portable HWE? They're 110volt en France and you need to check how many amps are available on the quay side too. There may not be enough. If you're T/M then you'll need to check water availability and disposal facilities. You definately wont be allowed to dump waste overboard. A van may cost more in tolls too. If the berth is just outside St Tropez in a village called Port Grimaud, road access may be a problem. Don't forget to cost for extra liability insurance, your van may only be 3rd party, RAC European cover health cover etc. etc. Realistically you are probably looking at 5 days to do the job/travel. I would have thought that £2000 wasn't enough.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

You could always fly down with easy jet cost about 25quid, ring a french supplier of cleaning machines and ask him 4 a free demonstration fly back the same day and make a mint ;)

Find out how much the yacht is worth and do it on a percentage and don’t forget the exchange rate. ;D

Dave,

Masses of good advice from Ken, but I think he was thinking of St. Tropaz, Texas  :D

We used to have 240 volts but Brusels made us give 10 of them to the French to bring their 220 volts up to 230, which is all we have left for ourselves  :(

Check those hidden costs - especially toll fees (which are heavier for vans) befor finalising a price.

I was talking out of my arm pit on the voltage, I don't know where that came from :-[ I realised Friday night whilst soaking in the bath and couldn't be bothered to boot-up again as I knew there'd be someone to correct me. Ta John.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

You may even have to travel as freight... this is even more expensive.... and trust me it will take longer than a day to get therein a van
I have travelled to Geneva and also Paris and this took a while to get there.. mind you we were driving  a mazda van!!
