URGENT SLWCN NEWS
« on: November 26, 2007, 09:46:30 am »
THE OPERATION HAS STARTED.

Just been informed that Police have started doing checks and a number of people have been caught and will be appearing in court in the next coming months.

This has caught us by surprise as we were trying to ask the Police to give some leverage in that you would have x days to get your licence in. But the law states which effects all civic trades if caught without a licence you will be charged. The problem if caught YOU CANNOT WORK.

So as you know the SLWCN has being putting out warnings that this would happen and we know that there are a few on here that post that are not licensed. So please if not caught yet please get an application form in quick, if you don't want to do it then it is entirely up to yourselves but there is a max fine of £2000 if caught.

Couple of things to clarify.

ONE LICENCE WILL NOT COVER ALL, YOU NEED SEPERATE LICENCE FOR EACH AREA, YOU WILL STILL BE CHARGED.
The SLWCN will be working on that issue.

And those National Companies that will be every employee caught. That's a big fine to pay.

PLEASE DO NOT GET CAUGHT, GET YOURSELF LICENSED, IT IS NOW HAPPENING.

So is this just in Scotland or do you need a license in England too?

Can now confirm that Strathclyde Police are now doing checks within Renfrewshire and unlicensed window cleaners have been caught. A report from the SLWCN has been sent to them which they are now looking into.

One thing they have acknowledged is the lack of knowledge about the window cleaners licence, they are now also looking into what can be done about this. The Police licensing division want to work closely with licensed window cleaners in the area, they are there to help you.

Police contacts will be on the SLWCN website in the coming months for any licensed window cleaner to make contact. Have to say it they were very friendly and helpful.

Have also been informed Police in Glasgow Council area have also started making checks. West Lothian and Border Police will soon follow.

On the plus side there has all of a sudden been a sharp increase in applications in Renfrewshire so a big thank to you guys who live in that area that post on here.

The SLWCN has a big meeting with one of the Councils next week which should hopefully resolve a lot of issues we face.
