merlin question
« on: November 19, 2007, 10:06:34 am »
hi guys, my new merlin is working fine i think (12ppm from 200-250ppm).

when i was putting it together, after i had carefully screwed the filter housings on, i noticed that if i wobbled the system as it stood on its side, i could hear the prefilter wobbling about inside it's housing. the same but nowhere near as bad for the membranes.

i dismantled and refitted them, checking the rubber washers were still in place on the end and still the same.

i'm just a bit concerned that if the prefiter can move inside its housing, how can it be working properly, as surely water will be able to get from the inside of the filter to the outside (or vice versa) without being forced through the membrane.

i thought about fitting an extra rubber washer on the end of the prefilter but thought it best to see what you guys thought first.

i've been using it for a couple of weeks now though and all SEEMS fine????

many thanks in advance    :)

ummm, strange.

check the sump is fully screwed on and ensure the rubber seals on both ends of the prefilter are in place.

You have to really screw the housing on. It will seem like they cant turn anymore but they will. They should defiantly not be rattling

sorry for delay, the end rubber washer seal is in place and the housing is screwed all the way down til the lip meets the body of the merlin.

i think i might add another rubber washer seal to the end of the prefilter, but i can't see why i should be having to think about doing this as i bought the merlin brand new????

it is all still working fine but maybe the mebranes coul be gettint damaged   ???
