smoke alarms
« on: November 05, 2007, 10:24:28 pm »
Hi all
In the past while cleaning domestics I have set the smoke alarm off usually the one at the top of the stairs, not a problem just take the batteries out.
Is this a problem when working in care homes etc , when they have sprinkler systems fitted.

Thanks John

Hi Paul its only happened once , it might of been a very sensitive alarm, while  I was working at a day center on Saturday in a small office I kept looking up at this smoke alarm it had a flashing red light, I was sh--ing it, I had visions of the fire brigade turning up , It's proberly just me finding something else to worry about

Sprinkler systems are heat activated and are only set off by a real fire rather then steam or smoke. I have this on good opion from a mate who is a fireman.

Otherwise the place would be flooded every time someone burnt their toast.
