Most of the portables we use have 2 x 3 stage vacuum motors.

Extraction hoses are all the same size.

I was wondering if it would make a difference if the diameter of the hose was made smaller would it then generate more power to the wand for uplift.

Has anybody experimented with this.

Paul,

Reducing the diameter of the vacuum hose will reduce the airflow at any given lenghth.

The increased restriction to airflow can result in a slightly more constant vacuum  but cannot increase it. The general effect would be a reduction in performance.

I do sometimes use a 30" length of 1.25" hose for curtain cleaning to effect this reduction.
