I always carry a male QC with just a hose-tail fitted. This is ideal for bleeding the system and can be used on a hose to rinse the wast tank or simply to pump out excess water at the end of a job.

Good idea John.

Ive always just hoovered up the excess solution (if not getting taken to next job) making sure it doesnt foam up too much, but this would be easier & I assume would help any further problems with air locks (if that is what ive got)

Thanks for the help. Looks like it has been an air-lock. Machine working perfectly last night. Fingers crossed it works ok today.
