The APWC welcomes Steve Lowe
« on: October 23, 2007, 10:54:09 am »
The APWC is pleased to Announce that Steve Lowe has joined the committee of the APWC.

He has come in firing on all cylinders and as we speak he is acting for our members and the wider window cleaning world on the recent announcements by the water authorities.

Thanks

Dave

I am a little confused about what is going on here with this ban, Luke
Ffenest ( est 2007 ) is a fully insured premium quality window cleaning service based at Llandderfel near Bala. All our work is guaranteed, rain or shine, year round.

After several phone calls today i think we have nothing to worry about. The new proposals are aimed mainly at the householder but we the APWC will be keeping a close eye on it and should things change we will keep everyone informed. This is where we need strong trade associations to represent us when needed.

I am not a APWC member yet, but responsible comments, and the involvement of people who care about the industry on the top table can only be a good thing and Steve Lowe seems like a usefull addition.
Can I just say that there was a previous thread when I think Ian asked about our views for a consultation process.
One of the things I took from this was that defra= yourselves- or any responsible body should work together to advise us on best practice for the use of grey water/harvesting rain water.

I realise that you are firefighting at the moment, but should you ever get down to biz with them there are other ideas including grants and tax breaks to encourage us window cleaners to go down the right path. I realise you are only dealing with the hose pipe ban at the moment, but the sooner you start planting some of these ideas in their heads the better.

Congrats Steve on the APWC,
I too was speaking with anglian water when they called me this morning, from what I was told and as you have already said, we need not worry as this is based firstly at the domestic market using say a pressure washer (example only) during a ban as at this time the ban does not cover such a thing as it was introduced well over 50 years ago.

As global warming progresses i think we will get these problems more and more. What us window cleaners need is a group of individuels who will fight our corner and be there for us when needed. This is where the APWC come in !! We are a non profit association that has been set up for you guys so you can be sure there is always someone looking out for your business. Lets hope window cleaners give us the support needed (By Joining) so we can give you first class representation.
