« on: October 28, 2004, 09:46:24 pm »
Have been given an Ivory coloured rug 6x4 100% wool pile rug to clean it says on the back" Authentic handmade indian rug "but it looks like a shag pile type rug
Its not filthy
What would most people recommend to clean this type of rug?

Bob,

No problems with cleaning by standard rug techniques.

Thorough pre-vac on both sides, can be hung and beaten if high dust-load.

Mist-spray with Woolsafe micro-splitter and brush in with Host machine fitted with gold (soft) brushes.

Extract a 65C with plain water or acidic rinse agent if required due to previous clean. Use suitable 3" rug tool rather than 12" wand and if possible take outside and 'flick-shake' to normalise (long) pile prior to quick-drying with air mover.

Your all heart Martin.
Cleaned rug on Friday using Solution no 4 agitated and rinsed with very weak acidic rince dried with air mover very good results except for a few patches that were customers attempts to remove stains with OXICLEAN
Returned rug & customer very happy.
