Quoted on a job on Friday and told the guy I would be there today to do the work which was the front of an office, cladding, guttering and windows. When I arrived there today there was a set of ladders there which I thought nothing of. So I goes in and speaks to the guy who owns the property and gets tole the ladders are another window cleaners. So I asks " Well who is doing the work then?" He says " You are but I didn't think you were coming so I asked the guy who cleans across the road."
I gets started then 10 minutes later I hears a van coming down the this guy jumps out and says " Sorry about that mate he didn't think you were gonna come.2 so I says " No worries mate, think he is just being funny." With that we both got chatting and the other window cleaner was a really nice guy. I showed him the water fed pole and explained how it works and he was really impressed with it. ( So I think I have converted another guy! )
The guy comes out to have a chat to the other window cleaner and starts asking him for a quote. Now I had already given a quote and both our quotes were bang on the same. Its just a case of what method he wants, WFP or Trad.
Now I have no problem with the other window cleaner and hopefully he will be online later!
( I gave him the addy) but I feel this customer is playing us off each other and if it wasn't for me having to pay someone else a percent of the earnings I would have packed up and walked off. I know though that either me or this other window cleaner is going to feel let down by this job because it is actually a good job minus the owner.
