Hi Guys,

Quoted on a job on Friday and told the guy I would be there today to do the work which was the front of an office, cladding, guttering and windows. When I arrived there today there was a set of ladders there which I thought nothing of. So I goes in and speaks to the guy who owns the property and gets tole the ladders are another window cleaners. So I asks " Well who is doing the work then?" He says " You are but I didn't think you were coming so I asked the guy who cleans across the road."

I gets started then 10 minutes later I hears a van coming down the this guy jumps out and says " Sorry about that mate he didn't think you were gonna come.2 so I says " No worries mate, think he is just being funny." With that we both got chatting and the other window cleaner was a really nice guy. I showed him the water fed pole and explained how it works and he was really impressed with it. ( So I think I have converted another guy! )

The guy comes out to have a chat to the other window cleaner and starts asking him for a quote. Now I had already given a quote and both our quotes were bang on the same. Its just a case of what method he wants, WFP or Trad.

Now I have no problem with the other window cleaner and hopefully he will be online later! ;D ( I gave him the addy) but I feel this customer is playing us off each other and if it wasn't for me having to pay someone else a percent of the earnings I would have packed up and walked off. I know though that either me or this other window cleaner is going to feel let down by this job because it is actually a good job minus the owner.

I think it's a sign of things to come, you will have no loyalty at all from him so if i was you i would let him know you 've decided you don't want the work.

Think your right there mate, the only thing I can think is that he was in a rush to get the work done because he is moving soon and it says in his contract agreement the outside of the building needed cleaning before hand over.

Actually come to think of it I bet he doesn't want a window cleaner, he just wanted that work doing.
