Used to be an estate/letting agent and used to wind me up seeing my mate who was chemdry at the time. Come in on a hot summers day in a t-shirt and shorts to collect keys for the properties he used to clean for us.

At the time I always thought that the results were pants. Most were cheap cream carpets and they never looked like they had even been cleaned. Bought a second hand machine and started cleaning them myself in my spare time and even with limited knowledge was able to get better results.

Never looked back apart from the first two years which were hell.

Five years ago I got made redundant as a Factory Manager of a food manufacturer in Sunderland, got 6 months pay in lieu of notice.

Whilst twiddling my thumbs on the lead up to Christmas 2002, I went to visit one of my relations and they mentioned that they had spilt a bottle of red wine on their carpet two days before and couldn't get a carpet cleaner for 6 weeks!!

The old lightbulb flickered above my head and I went out and did some research and ended up buying a cc machine and going on a course. 

We now have 10 staff and 4 vehicles and my wife has just handed in her notice as a Management Accountant to come and work for the business as a Secretary/Admin Clerk/Accountsant/PA/Telephonist/Receptionist/Coffee maker/Sounding Board/etc/etc, and she thinks she's going to get it easy!!!!
