Price Advice
« on: September 09, 2007, 07:38:32 pm »
Thankyou for the advice offered. I know that price is the key factor in building a profitable business, I dont want to be a busy fool but one thing that concerns me is that there must be a happy medium as regards pricing.Ive seen posts on here from cleaners who charge at the top end ( some pricing so well they get replies of dissbelief from other cleaners).

If I price at my money, and only pick up one or two jobs in an area wont that mean Im constantly moving from job to job( area to area)

This seems to offset the benefit of pricing higher, afterall I dont get paid for travelling. Was thinking about pricing at arround £40/ hr which should give me £55 ish when Ive gotten upto speed with the cleaning bit.

However if the area Im canvassing has historically been paying other cleaners a £20 hr rate Im going to struggle my b****x  off to get enough work to earn a living

Rates must vary from area to area and be directly related to how many w/c 'rs there are covering an area. Would you look at offering a service to customers with built in added value?

eg, Include a bi annual soffit and facia clean included in your 6 weekly clean price??..

Thanks gents ( not sure if Im asking too many questions in too short a time)

Mark

100% traditional £18 per house average.

This is what you replied.

Nottinghamshire must have changed alot in the last 5 years £18 that's more than the average in Cambridge (or I am well to cheap) not know to be locally!

Ian, you put the above on another topic a few days ago? Your prices have jumped up alot??

yes do have workers and do some myself also, I am looking for a window cleaner in the city area as I hate going in or sending a guy there as it takes ages and after 7 years I still hate it, are you interested?

I guess if I bought a push bike and had it sign written it would be easier   ::)

I charge the following for traditional...

2 bed terrace - 7.50 first clean, 5.00 thereafter
3 bed semi - 10.00 first clean, 7.50 thereafter
detached - 12.50 first clean, 10 thereafter

Additional items (conservatory, porch etc) charged at an extra 3.00

Out of every 50 customers, maybe 3 will say its a bit expensive....  Everyone else is perfectly happy...

Im in Leicester.

yes was thinking bout targeting "the little nuggets" as I feel that most starting out will take the route of least resistance and target terraced and estate prop, not that theres anything wrong with that but I think it will be well covered.
